Lower Releases from Fort Peck this Summer

At its Spring Public Meeting on Missouri River Mainstem Reservoir Regulation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers told the public to expect lower releases from the Fort Peck Dam this summer. Because of the influx of runoff to the system downstream from Montana, the Corps needs to rebalance the three upper basin reservoirs. Releases from Fort Peck would likely stay near 5,000 cfs for much of the summer. If your pump site might need work to deal with the lower releases, please contact the Richland County CD at 406-433—2103 or the Roosevelt County CD at 406-787-5232 about their “Double R Dredge” - a better way to clear pump sites.
